Code of Conduct

Welcome, attendees! The Conference of Applied Statistics in Agriculture and Natural Resources is made up of a network of professionals who have common interests in agricultural, biological, and ecological statistics and exchanging knowledge in a global context. It is of utmost importance that each person attending the conference has a positive and rewarding experience. The organizing committee is committed to providing a safe and professional meeting environment that fosters open dialogue and the exchange of scientific ideas, promotes equal opportunities and treatment for all participants, and is free of harassment and discrimination. Therefore, we ask all participants to abide by the conference code of conduct.

Speakers are expected to uphold standards of scientific integrity and professional ethics. This includes notifying organizational committee in advance of the meeting about any possible conflicts of interest. We recognize that there are areas of science that are controversial.

The Conference can serve as an effective forum to consider and debate science-relevant viewpoints in an orderly, respectful, and fair manner. The policies herein apply to all attendees, speakers, exhibitors, staff, volunteers, and guests at the Conference and related events.

Harassment and Safety

Every attendee is expected to be considerate and respectful to each other. Utah State University is committed to providing a safe and productive environment for everyone present at our meetings. The Conference prohibits intimidating, threatening, or harassing conduct, and this policy applies to everyone associated with the meeting. Meeting participants violating these rules may be asked to leave the meeting. Harassment of any kind is a serious issue, will not be tolerated in any form, and includes the following:

Offensive comments related to ethnicity, religion, disability, age, economic status, physical appearance, gender, or sexual orientation.
Deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome attention.
Any other harassment activity.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If you are being harassed, notice someone else being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the conference staff who will work with the appropriate organizational committee to resolve the situation. We value your attendance and want to make your experience as productive and rewarding as possible.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Measures

Even though face masks and vaccines are not required for attending the Conference, attendees are expected to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by following guidance from local health authority during the meeting. Everyday preventive actions include:

Clean your hands often: Clean your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Cover coughs and sneezes: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, use the inside of your elbow. If you are ill and must be around others, wear a face mask.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surface using a regular household disinfectant.
Practice social distancing and wear a mask when you cannot avoid close contact.
Agree to have your temperature taken before entering the meeting/event venue, if required by the event organizers.
Agree to wear a mask or facial covering, if required by the event organizers.
Go to the event First Aid office (or equivalent) at any time if you feel unwell or are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Based on current contact tracing advice from many health authorities, if you test positive for COVID-19 up to 14 days after returning home, please contact the conference organizers to advise them.

The framework of this Code of Conduct was inspired by information from Utah State University COVID-19 task force, the Code of Conduct from AAAS 2021 annual meeting, and the ASA, CSSA, SSSA international annual meeting 2021.
