Program Objectives for Agricultural Machinery Technology (Technology Certificate and AAS Degree):

Disciplinary Knowledge

  1. Objective 1 - Students will apply knowledge of equipment, science, technology, and applied sciences to agricultural situations and related industry work within the classroom and laboratory.
  2. Objective 2 - Students will be able to provide viable and sustainable solutions to situations within existing economic, environmental, social, political, and health and safety constraints.
Skills and Career Competencies
  1. Competency 1 - Students will demonstrate professional competency in the applied sciences necessary for situational analysis, diagnosis, management, and problem-solving principles in agricultural and related settings by completing written exams and experiential assessments
  2. Competency 2 - Students will acquire professional skills necessary to contribute to the industry using project-based learning, creative thinking, teamwork, and communication skills through projects and presentations

Each of the program objectives must be achieved and properly assessed with the following required and elective courses. The course information related to the transparency of the student work and how the student work is evaluated is given in the links that correspond to the objectives. The course objectives are written to meet the course description (link to the USU catalog) and achieve the program objectives. Students are evaluated in each course by completing assignments, projects, quizzes, exams, and other forms of formative and summative assessments. To better help students understand the course and program expectations, the corresponding assignments, and the assessment tools (e.g., rubrics) are given for each program objective and its aligning course objective.
