Margaret Krause
Plants, Soils & Climate (PSC)
Assistant Professor

Biography
Small grains breeding and research at USU began over one hundred years ago in order to develop superior cultivars adapted to the state and region. Currently, the program has active breeding pipelines for dryland winter wheat, irrigated winter wheat, and winter barley.
Research Interests
Dr. Krause's research program focuses on 1) the development, evaluation, and application of breeding methods and emerging technologies that can make plant breeding more efficient, and 2) genetic resistance to the dwarf bunt disease in wheat, caused by the soil-borne pathogen Tilletia controversa.
