Educational Background
Biography
Born and raised in Southern California, I earned my BS, MS and DVM each with an equine emphasis at UC Davis. I travelled across the country for my veterinary externships which included Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, Performance Equine Associates, Ferguson & Associates and Pioneer Equine Hospital. I was an associate veterinarian with Unionville Equine Associates in Chester County, PA before relocating to Cache Valley and starting a new chapter with USU as an educator and clinician.
Teaching Interests
As a veterinary practitioner, I aim to educate my undergraduate students so that they can apply practical principles and techniques. I want them to be knowledgable horse owners, trainers and/or barn managers that can problem solve and interface with others on a professional level. For my veterinary students, I aim to deliver material and experiential learning opportunities in a way that shows them what the practice of veterinary medicine means. As cases develop, I involve students when appropriate to provide unique learning opportunities.
Research Interests
I am very keen to use my clinical skills in any way that can support research efforts on this campus and have done so by participating in equine reproductive work, small ruminant embryo transfers, ovine orthopedic model development and porcine gastroscopy.
