Plants, Soils and Climate
Climate and crop scientist and USU alumnus Avik Mukerjee is using his skills to help farmers as a new assistant agronomy agent with University of Arizona Extension. Mukerjee earned his Ph.D. at Utah State University with faculty mentor Simon Wang, professor of climate science.
As a postdoctoral researcher at U of A, Mukherjee evaluated relationships between western landscapes and climate factors that affect outbreaks of pests and their natural enemies. He is currently doing research funded by the Arizona Cotton Growers Association on herbicide impacts on cotton plants.
