David

David Anderson, a faculty member in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, was recently honored with the 2025 CAAS Faculty University Service Award for his many contributions to Utah State University.

Anderson chairs USU’s Community-Engaged Faculty Committee, where he works to expand support for faculty involved in high-impact, community-centered scholarship.

Anderson was the driving force behind the creation of the USU Botanical Center. He fostered vital community connections and promoted sustainable development and water-efficient design before these became mainstream concerns.

Through his Extension efforts, Anderson secured over $1 million in funding for projects benefiting Utah communities. He has also led the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning’s annual Charrette, contributing an estimated $250,000 in planning and design consultation to communities across the state. His leadership was also critical in expanding department facilities to better serve students and faculty.

Beyond his department, Anderson’s service extends across the university, contributing to committees focused on sustainability, campus planning, stormwater protection, bird strike prevention, the campus arboretum, and faculty development.

Anderson’s dedication to service has profoundly shaped Utah State University. His leadership in community engagement, university-wide initiatives, and professional service exemplifies the best of the spirit of a land-grant institution. His impact spans Extension, facilities development, faculty mentorship, teaching, and program outreach, making him a true champion of USU’s mission.
