In December, Dr. Man-Keun Kim (Applied Economics) visited National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) under the iPACE program, advancing Utah State University’s global academic collaborations. Dr. Kim delivered seven dynamic seminars on advanced econometrics to over 15 doctoral and master’s students from NCHU’s International Doctoral Program of Agriculture (IDPA). These sessions, which emphasized real-world applications in agriculture and agribusiness, fostered interactive learning and meaningful discussions. One seminar, captured in a classroom photo, showcased the students’ engaged participation as they explored innovative approaches to solving economic and policy challenges.
Dr. Kim also collaborated with NCHU’s Dr. Bruce Yang and IDPA PhD students to develop a research grant on Taiwanese consumer preferences for wine. This initiative underscores the importance of cross-disciplinary and international teamwork. Additionally, Dr. Kim attended an MOU signing between NCHU and the Taiwan Halal Integrity Association (THIDA), highlighting opportunities for future research on Halal market trends in East Asia, as seen in the group photo from the ceremony. “Dr. Kim’s work exemplifies the mission of iPACE—to bridge academic and cultural connections worldwide. Strengthening our ties with institutions like NCHU enriches both research and education, making a lasting impact,” said Dr. Simon Wang, iPACE Director. These efforts affirm USU’s role as a leader in fostering global academic partnerships.
