Outcomes Data - Agricultural Systems & Technology

ASTE Undergraduate Degrees

ASTE 1010: Introduction to AST

Exam 3

Rubric Description The exam measures students’ ability to problem solve for power and machinery, soil and water, structures, animal environments, and emerging technologies. Students must complete calculations for internal combustion engine measurements and output, structural properties, including R-Values, insulation, and heat flow.

Outcomes Data Spring of 2021 there were 21 of 23 students who passed the exam. Data reflect that over 90% of the students had a mastery of the content, and over 90% of the students were able to complete the final assignment in a satisfactory way. The rubric emphasizes both learned content and the application of soft skills, which showcases the relevance of the course for meeting the program objective.

ASTE 2200: Electricity in Agricultural Systems

Exam 3

Rubric Description The exam measures students’ ability to perform the more advanced mathematical calculations for electrical circuit operation (voltage, amperage, resistance, power, horsepower, efficiency, and power factor). (10%) Select and/or calculate the type and size of electrical conductors and install the conductors to operate multiple duplex electrical outlets and single-pole and three-way electrical switches in 120-volt circuits. Interpret electrical schematics/drawings for operation, voltage and amperage meter readings, and trouble-shoot problems with electrical connections/circuits using a multi-meter. (40%) Select and install a variety of electrical controls, relays, and conductors for the operation of electrical lamps and motors. Interpret schematics/drawings for proper operation and trouble-shoot problems with electrical connections/circuits using a multi-meter.

Outcomes Data: Spring of 2021 there were 21 out of 22 students who passed the exam. Data reflect that over 90% of the students had a mastery of the content, and over 90% of the students were able to complete the final assignment in a satisfactory way. The rubric emphasizes both learned content and the application of soft skills, which showcases the relevance of the course for meeting the program objective.

ASTE 3030: Metal Welding Processes and Technology in Agriculture

Final Exam Portfolio.

Outcomes Data: Student grades: A: 27; B: 1; C: 0; D: 0; F: 0. These grades reflect that over 90% of the students had a mastery of the content, and over 90% of the students were able to complete the final assignment in a satisfactory way. The rubric emphasizes both learned content and the application of soft skills, which showcases the relevance of the course for meeting the program objective.

ASTE 3080: Compact Power Units for Agricultural and Turfgrass Applications

Final Project Rubric.

Outcomes Data: Student grades: A: 33; B: 0; C: 1; D: 0; F: 0. These grades reflect that over 90% of the students had a mastery of the content, and over 90% of the students were able to complete the final assignment in a satisfactory way. The rubric emphasizes both learned content and the application of soft skills, which showcases the relevance of the course for meeting the program objective.

ASTE 4100: Agricultural Structures and Environments

Exam 3

Rubric Description The exam measures quantitative calculations and other information related to agricultural structures and environments. Focus of the exam is utilization of structures for equipment, livestock, livestock waste management, and commodity storage. Mathematical calculations related to metal and wood construction are emphasized, with information on selection and fabrication of agricultural structures.

Outcomes Data Spring of 2021 there were 25 of 26 students who passed the exam. Data reflect that over 90% of the students had a mastery of the content, and over 90% of the students were able to complete the final assignment in a satisfactory way. The rubric emphasizes both learned content and the application of soft skills, which showcases the relevance of the course for meeting the program.
