Food and Nutrition

Do you love science, or are you interested in helping people live healthier lives? Have you ever wondered how food and nutrients affect the human body? An applied science degree related to food and nutrition may be the perfect fit for you!

Utah State University boasts small student to teacher ratios and fantastic learning labs including a dairy plant, a meat processing plant, and the only bean-to-bar chocolate factory at a U.S. university. Students explore the molecular and cellular levels of food, as well as understanding the building blocks of food and their impacts on consumers. They also learn how to create healthier diets, prepare better tasting foods, and gain a greater understanding of disease and increased food safety.

Our nutrition science students develop the skills needed to work as professionals within the fitness, health and dietary supplement industries as health coaches, personal trainers, product developers, and marketers, and are prepared to enter medical school.

There are endless possibilities and opportunities with food and nutrition related degrees. Our students boast great job placement after graduation and many are admitted to highly competitive graduate programs and medical schools.

Welcome to the Aggie family. We are happy to have you!

Dietetics

I chose dietetics because it marries my two passions: people and health science. I like learning about the metabolism of nutrients, but I also love talking to people about food. I love the challenge of teaching people how to eat for a specific medical condition, while still preserving their individual and cultural food preferences.
