Medical laboratory technicians collect samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other substances. These tests are important in helping physicians make diagnoses and plan care for their patients. The basic course at USU will start down a specific and very special learning path using; medical laboratory techniques, medical lab practices, hematology, immunohematology, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, immunology and serology. You may choose to continue in this area of study all the way through a PhD if you so desire. This field of study also opens up the world of forensics, molecular biology, parasitology, cytology, and histology. There are many possibilities that will become available to you.
