Graduate Studies

Graduate student researcherThe education of future scientists is raison d’etre of the Crop Physiology Laboratory. We do research so that we can better teach the scientific method. Graduate education is at the core of our mission. We welcome inquiries from all qualified students. Assistantships for the most qualified students are available in most of the areas listed in the research section of this site.

The most qualified graduate students have:

  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.6 or higher
  • GRE scores above the 70th percentile
  • A strong work ethic
  • An unsatiated curiosity about biological science

Students must apply for admission to the USU School of graduate studies, but assistantship funding is awarded directly through the lab. Please contact Dr. Bruce Bugbee for availability of assistantships. Bruce’s philosophy on graduate education is described in his essay On Mentoring, which was written as part of the awarding of the 2001 Graduate Mentor award at Utah State University.
