Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center

Landmark Design worked closely with the project architects to provide a well thought-out visitor experience approaching the facilities, developed opportunities for interpretation outside the buildings and on the adjacent interpretive trail, and completed landscape and revegetation design utilizing native plants derived from regional sources. The project received LEED Platinum certification for the building and landscape, and was one of 150 projects worldwide selected as a pilot project for the Sustainable Sites Initiative™ (SITES ™) pilot program, a program which has created voluntary national guidelines and performance benchmarks for sustainable land design and construction and maintenance practices. Landmark Design led the significant documentation effort for the project which was awarded a Two-Star SITES™ Certification in 2014. The project also received a Utah Chapter ASLA - Award of Honor in 2014. The Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center is one of several National Park Service projects completed by the firm.
