USU Student Chapter of ASLA

The service projects done by the student chapter of ASLA include constructing new gardens at the CAPSA shelter, planting street trees, constructing a new playground, planting a garden at a Habitat for Humanity home, and the Adopt-a-Trail maintenance program for the Spring Hollow Trail in Logan Canyon. The chapter has also established the Community Design Team program (CDT) that puts together a team each year to work on design projects for the community. The donations acquired from the CTD design proposals fund various ASLA activities throughout the year. The Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) provides a welcoming group to integrate all Landscape Architecture students into the department and helps prepare these students for the profession. The chapter leaders plan numerous activities throughout the year such as coffee break, genius hour, barbeques, service projects, and other seasonal activities. In 2010, the Student ASLA Chapter combined efforts with the state ASLA chapter to start a mentor program which was recognized nationally in the Landscape Architecture Magazine (LAM).
