Biography

Hi, my name is Joelle and I'm excited to start the MLA program at USU! I'm originally from Canada but have been living in Salt Lake City for 30 years. I got my B.S. from the University of Utah in Public Land Management and Recreation Planning in 2001. I worked as a backcountry ranger for the Forest Service for 5 years after graduation then joined a small environmental consulting firm in 2005. I've been working as a consultant for the past 15 years, primarily with contaminated properties, assisting clients with environmental compliance and redevelopment issues. I'm ready for a career change and am passionate about resource conservation, sustainable design, reclamation and reuse of derelict land, and recreation planning and design. I'm looking forward to learning and working with my fellow students and the LAEP faculty to create spaces that connect people to each other and our environment. On a personal note, I love to hike and am excited to explore the mountains in Logan! Reach out if you'd like to join me.
