Phillip Fernberg

Biography

Phillip Fernberg is a designer and PhD Student in LAEP’s Visualization, Instrumentation and Virtual Interaction Design (VIVID) Laboratory. He earned an MLA from Louisiana State University, BA in Latin American Studies from Brigham Young University, and has professional experience ranging from planning, landscape architecture, teaching, and archival research to international relations, entertainment, and tourism development. Phillip’s current research at VIVID Lab focuses on spatial cognition in virtual environments and artificial intelligence applications for landscape architecture and ecological restoration. He also has broader research interests in landscape dynamics, digital fabricative culture, and the future of design-build practice.
