USU MANRRS member now serving as a National Ambassador

LOGAN, UT – Congratulations to Julia Edwards on being selected as a national ambassador for the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) organization. 

The MANRRS Organization is a national club-based organization that focuses on professional development for students in underrepresented communities. They host yearly conferences, workshops, and opportunities for students to gain skills needed entering the workplace.  

Edwards, a junior at Utah State University studying Information Systems and Data Analytics, believes that MANRRS is important in all fields. 

“There is a need for representation,” she said. “It’s about having those diverse perspectives as well as being able to connect with those different audiences.” 

USU’s chapter of MANRRS was started in 2022 and has grown exponentially since. It is open to any major, and anyone is welcome to participate. 

Edwards says she is excited for the growth and is glad the retention rate is growing. “We’re in this really pivotal point in MANRRS where were getting a lot more people…from all different communities,” she said. 

Now as a national ambassador for the organization, Edwards is able to participate on a higher level and is able to help the future of MANRRS. She is able to travel, work with the national officers, and coordinate events for Region 6, where USU is located. 

Edwards enjoys being an ambassador for the organization because it allows her to use her skills to make room for her and others like her in spaces where there isn’t currently a space. She says that because she is outgoing, it allows her to speak up for those who can’t.
