Do you have a passion for creating or designing? Do you have an interest in the outdoor industry? Pursue your passions with a design or outdoor product related degree. Outdoor Product Design and Development (OPDD) students design anything from fishing waders, soccer cleats, backpacking gear, or even climbing gear. You can turn your ideas into a reality. OPDD was created with the help of the Industry Advisory Board including representatives from Patagonia, VF Corporation, Black Diamond, and more.
At Utah State University, you can turn your sketches into prototypes and eventually into real products. You will have hands-on experiences and connections with real people in the outdoor industry. Students have access to 6 different labs on campus to get their hands dirty and translate their sketches and digital renderings into prototypes and finished products.
Our design and production students end up working in a variety of full-time positions such as designers, technical developers, product line managers, and supply chain managers.
