The farm is home to barns, storage facilities, pastures, Sam Skaggs Family Equine Education Center the Matthew Hillyard Animal Teaching and Research Center (ATRC). The ATRC has classrooms, a suite of veterinary medical facilities, USDA-inspected meat lab, and animal physiology and reproduction labs. The Equine Education Center covers 26 acres and includes a 150 x 300 foot indoor arena, stall barn, classroom complex, outdoor arena, and bridle paths.

The Animal Research Farm focuses on nutrition, developmental biology, and management of beef, sheep, swine, and horses.
