CA “Tony” Ernstrom of Logan was the recipient of the 1990 Service to the Dairy Industry Award, presented by the Utah Dairy Commission. Ernstrom received the award at the Utah Dairy Convention at Utah State University last week. 

Ernstrom served as head of the department of nutrition and food science at USU for 17 years. He was associate editor, then editor, of the Journal of Dairy Science for 12 years. He was elected to the board of directors of the American Dairy Science Association and served as vice president of National Dairy Promotion and Research Board. 

His achievements have been recognized with many awards including the Pfizer award for Cheese Research, the Kraft Teaching Award, the Cruess Teaching Award, Outstanding Educator of America and the Distinguished Service Award from the American Jersey Cattle Club. 

He is a fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists and was a U.S. delegate to the International Dairy Federation meetings in Budapest in 1988 and Copenhagen in 1989.
