Animal Models for Biomedical Research

The ADVS Department has a group of research and laboratory animal care professionals working in a USDA registered and AAALAC accredited state-of-the-art laboratory animal facility. The facility and its staff work have worked with private industry, academic, and government sponsors and partners to develop and implement animal models for the elucidation of disease mechanisms and for the evaluation of new therapies and new medical devices. Animal models include everything from rodents to rabbits to large animal models (swine, sheep, goats). In conjunction with the nearby Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory we provide broad research services. Current areas of research animal models include:

  • Cardiology
  • Vascular access and vascular disease
  • Orthopedics
  • Biocompatibility
